Price: $62.95
Medical Transcription Fundamentals, a holistic approach to the study of medical transcription, is a comprehensive, yet concise, manual written by a practicing medical transcriptionist for student medical transcriptionists. The conversational approach, filled with practical, "from-the-trenches" tips and advice, makes this book particularly valuable to the new transcriptionist entering the field.
Compatible with the AHDI Model Curriculum and designed with the adult-vocational and post-secondary school student in mind, this product meets the needs of both students and instructors. It can serve as the primary textbook in a short-term medical transcription course or be used for independent, on-line study. After completing the exercises and activities in this book, students will be able to prepare standard medical reports accurately and efficiently. They will also be well-versed in the fundamentals of anatomy and medical terminology as used in various medical specialty practices.
A bound-in CD-ROM includes 10 hours of actual dictation by physicians practicing in a variety of specialties PLUS additional scripted dictation (3 files for each chapter) to complement the end of chapter exercises, sample reports, and other data needed to prepare the documents discussed in the text.

"Lippincott publishes the best materials in the educational market for medical office professions, and I am always excited about anything new that comes out. This new textbook stands head and shoulders above the competition, particularly in the instructor resources area. I get copies of everything I can to help me be a better instructor, but your book goes far beyond anything else I have seen. Technology has changed transcription in a huge way, and it is gratifying to see the technology being used for the student and instructor's benefit as well. I have used materials in the past that you have since published under your banner (Laura Bryan's "MS Office for the Medical Transcriptionist" and Rowland's "Saving Keystrokes"). I also use Sally Roach's text on "Pharmacology for Health Professionals." You are definitely filling a void that has been there for a long time. I have been teaching in this capacity for 8 years, and there was next to nothing in the way of teaching materials when I first started. The best program out there has been the SUM Program offered by Health Professions Institute, but they are not college educator friendly. It was so difficult trying to get materials from them, that I eventually had to give up. You have stepped up and offered educational materials that are high quality, college friendly, and easy to use. I hope that my comments have been helpful, and I appreciate very much being a part of the review process. I can't wait to see the finished product. Thank you!"

The Student and Instructor's Resource CD-ROM: "I can't say enough good about what has been put together. I only meet with my students 4 times throughout the semester in our distance-learning format, but you have certainly put together tools to make class time a true learning experience and fun as well. This is the kind of textbook I have been wanting for years, and I'm glad to see one finally come to pass. I was particularly impressed with the dictation sentences that started out easy to understand and progressed to a foreign dialect that had you scratching your head wondering what had just been said. All of the classroom activities were especially welcome, and I thought the extra helps for object lessons were wonderful."

The Student and Instructor's Resource CD-ROM: "I can't think of another thing that could be included as you covered everything and then some that I've wanted for years."
